Rise of The Tomb Raider Cranks It Up Several Notches
Rise of The Tomb Raider is an upcoming action, adventure and survival game in a third person perspective. It is being developed by Crystal Dynamics and is set to release in November 2015.
This game is a direct sequel to 2013’s Tomb Raider, which was a reboot of a successful gaming franchise. The game was amazing with the right kind of gameplay that doesn’t feel too confusing or boring.
However, there was still room for improvement and if the trailer and gameplay videos are to be trusted, we are going to the most amazing Tomb Raider game ever.
Rise of Tomb Raider picks up after the last game. Lara has escaped from the island and yet no one believes the horrible encounter that she had while trying to survive and supernatural Yamatai.
A shadow organization, Trinity, is well up covering her experiences and calling her insane because they want to find out immortality and since, Lara Croft is not going to sit idly, while people are calling her a liar, she will travel to Siberia and find The Prophet’s Tomb.
It is supposed to hold the secrets of immortality. Since, Trinity also want to find out the truth, this is going to be a race against time.
They have all the resources in the world and Lara has only her skills of survivals and making the best weapons out of the spare parts lying around in the jungle.
Lara has to succeed because this is the true Tomb Raider and finding the truth about immortality is just as exciting as getting the heck out of a freaky island!
Gameplay and Weapons
Since, Rise of The Tomb Raider is an open world survival game, the gameplay requires players to find out everything and anything they can to create the materials to survive in the wild.
The trailer shows heavy snow, so that suggests that you might require a blanket or coat and for that, we might have to hunt wolves and bears.
I saw Lara fighting with a bear in a gameplay video and I was truly excited. Fighting a bear is not going to be cakewalk, you have to time your attacks and find out other opportunities to distract the beast and kill it.
To survive in the wild, you need weapons and currently we know that Lara’s trusted bow and arrow are making a return. Hook axe is also available to climb trees and snowy mountains and to kill animals with a deep cut.
Since, whole Trinity organization is going to come after The Prophet’s Tomb, Lara can’t go around swinging her arrows and axe at them. She has to find ways to do it quietly.
Stealth gameplay is a big thing for survival gameplay and personally, I think that game developers should learn from Splinter Cell: Blacklist.
Although it was not a survival game, it did everything right with how to clear a whole game with using just your stealth skills.
Now, regarding Rise of The Tomb Raider, stealth kills are going to be useful for killing enemies and animals.
For this, we have a small blade with us and some undisclosed stealth weapons. A bow and arrow definitely counts as a stealth weapon until you use exploding arrows, which you can!
You’ll be surprised to see the vast amount of gamers fighting over Uncharted and Tomb Raider. Nobody wants to hear that Tomb Raider is copying Uncharted.
However, you would be more surprised that Phil Spencer (Microsoft) said they do want a game like Uncharted in Xbox Universe and that’s why they are putting everything they have got in Rise of The Tomb Raider.
Then, how can one argue about the legitimacy of the comment wars that have been going on YouTube.
Apart from all of this chit-chat, the sequel is going to have top of the line graphics card because after watching the trailer and gameplay videos, your Titan X and Fury X are the only ones that can actually show you what these developers have in their mind.
Nvidia Gameworks has taking graphical elements in games to a whole new level and AMD is also working their best bring out the best in games.
It is true that cranking out the settings to their highest point takes a toll on your hardware and normal PC gamers, with graphics cards like Nvidia GTX 750 Ti and AMD Radeon R7 265, just don’t have enough to feel the life-like vistas that open world games have to offer.
Still, if you can somehow afford a high end gaming computer, you’ll be greeted with one of the most beautiful survival games ever.
Rise of The Tomb Raider is expected to have DirectX 12.0 support.
Right now, this is just a guess but it is probably going to be priced at $59.99, which is the traditional cost of all digital games.
The price can obviously vary depending on country and current market conditions.
Indian Prices are also going vary like this (again, traditional):
Xbox One – 3500
PS 4 – 3500
PC – 2500
Rise of The Tomb Raider is going to be released by following dates:
Xbox One and 360: 30 September 2015
PC (Windows): Q1 2016 (Early 2016)
